Germany's best family hotel for the sixth time in a row
Since the introduction of the kinderhotel.info award in 2019, the Familotel Sonnenpark has been voted the best family hotel in Germany every year. We are delighted, to be the No. 1 family-friendly hotel in Germany again in 2024.
For the kinderhotel.info award, the facilities, service and guest opinions of over 730 family hotels were analysed in detail. This includes, for example, the number of baby and childcare hours and the guest ratings from the portals google, TripAdvisor and HolidayCheck as well as kinderhotel.info. Once again one of the most popular hotels worldwide in 2 categories in 2024
The HolidayCheck Gold Award goes once again this year to Familotel Sonnenpark for the Family Hotels and All-Inclusive Hotels categories. In Hesse, we are in first place in both categories and in the top 4 in Germany. Worldwide, we have even risen to the top ten in the family hotels category and climbed to 14th place in the all-inclusive hotels category. Simply fantastic.
Based on more than 752,000 real reviews from 2023, HolidayCheck recognises the most popular hotels worldwide. This year, 680 hotels in over 120 holiday regions were honoured, including 168 hotels with the Gold Award. This special award is given to all hotels that have received the HolidayCheck Award at least 5 times since 2017 for consistently outstanding holiday reviews.
But above all, we would like to thank our wonderful guests who rate us so highly after every holiday. That makes us very happy.
2023 Awarded again as the best family hotel in Germany and even Europe.
We are extremely excited, because kinderhotel.info has awarded the kinderhotel.info award to the best family hotels with childcare for the fifth time and the Familotel Sonnenpark was voted No. 1 in Germany for the fifth time in a row and this year even as No. 1 in Europe.
There were 745 children's hotels from 15 European countries to choose from. Careful evaluation the facilities and guest ratings. The scope and quality of the childcare and quality of childcare is an important criterion. New this year are also which are particularly in demand. The Familotel Sonnenpark has been awarded the HolidayCheck Gold Award in 2023 and is thus once again one of the most popular hotels worldwide. This special Gold Award is given to all hotels that have received the HolidayCheck Award for continuous outstanding holiday ratings at least 5 times since 2017.
Based on more than 623,000 reviews, HolidayCheck selects the best hotels worldwide. This year, 596 hotels in more than 122 holiday regions have been awarded the HolidayCheck Award, including 151 other hotels with a Gold Award in addition to us.
We were awarded in the categories Family Hotels and All-Inclusive Hotels. In both categories we are once again in first place in Hesse and in Germany we have moved up into the top 3. Worldwide, we have even climbed into the top 25 this year. Simply fantastic.

Family Cup 2022 in the "Childcare" category
At the Family Cup 2022 awards for the best family hotels in German-speaking countries, we were awarded first place in the "Childcare" category. Based on the travel portal meintophotel.de and the hotel guide "Mein Tophotel Familie 2022", the expert jury, consisting of experienced trade journalists and renowned industry experts, justified first place as follows:
"Parents of babies know their little ones are in good hands at the Familotel Sonnenpark in Willingen (D) in the hands of paedagogically trained caretakers in their own baby lounge, the indoor baby pool, the Snoezel room and in the baby club for playing. Toddlers will also find a number of great facilities for optimal care. Kids and teens can look forward to an exciting indoor and outdoor holiday programme, always supervised by absolute professionals. Number 1 again in 2022: Hotel Sonnenpark has been Germany's most popular family hotel since 2019
The editorial team of kinderhotel.info has been identifying the 50 best hotels with childcare every year since 2019. The evaluation is based on guest ratings in combination with particularly family-friendly facilities. The result takes into account both the quantitative scope of childcare as well as qualitative components such as care for different age groups or the offer of baby care. Also taken into account were the ratings from the three major portals Google, TripAdvisor and HolidayCheck, which were supplemented with guest experiences on kinderhotel.info.
With the introduction of the award in 2019, the travel experts have chosen Familotel Sonnenpark in Hochsauerland as Germany's most popular family hotel every year and thus for the fourth time in a row. We are very proud and delighted about this. Many thanks also to our many dear guests.
HolidayCheck Special Award 2022
We have been awarded in four categories: Family hotels, wellness hotels, all-inclusive hotels and winter holidays. We are in first place in Hesse in all four categories, among the top 10 hotels in Germany and in 20th place in the wellness hotel category, and even in the top 100 worldwide in all four categories.
Based on more than 360,000 reviews, HolidayCheck selects the best hotels worldwide and awards the winners with the HolidayCheck Special Award. This recognises hotels that have done a great job despite the special circumstances in the travel year 2021. A total of 619 hotels in 27 countries can look forward to the Special Award 2022.

Top priority for us at Sonnenpark: the safety of your children
The entire Sonnenpark is car-free and secured all the way around. In cooperation with TÜV NORD, we regularly check our activities against the criteria set by the German Child Protection Association. We are proud to bear the "OK for Kids" quality mark, which has recently been awarded to us once again. It is the sign of a successfully completed TÜV NORD certification procedure, but above all it is the confirmation that we are not only thinking ahead in terms of child safety, but also ahead of the game. This includes regular first aid training. We aim to have at least twenty employees trained in first aid at all times - ten of them with special training in first aid for children.

The editors of kinderhotel.info determine annually the 50 best hotels with child care. In 2021 the travel experts have chosen, for the third time in a row, the Familotel Sonnenpark in Hochsauerland as the best hotel for families in Germany at place 1.

Just like last year, we took first place in the kinderhotel.info Award in 2020, making us the best of over 700 rated hotels with childcare in Europe. We are quite proud of that.

Best hotel with childcare 2019
The holiday portal kinderhotel.info has currently listed 660 family hotels in 14 European countries and, for the first time, is presenting the kinderhotel.info Award 2019 to the 50 best hotels with childcare facilities. Our hotel took first place after evaluation of family-relevant equipment, service and guest opinions.

The Familotel Sonnenpark takes 3rd place in the category "Best 4-star hotel in Germany". This makes us one of the winners of the Trivago Award 2018. Our hotel reached 94.45 of 100 possible points.

Familotel Sonnenpark receives the Holidaycheck Award for the seventh time in a row
The Familotel Sonnenpark in Willingen receives a Holidaycheck Award for the seventh time in a row. This year the hotel made it into the top ten in three categories. With an impressive 100 percent recommendation rate, with 1,844 hotel ratings in the meantime, the 4-star Familotel Sonnenpark achieved 1st place among the most popular hotels in Hesse and 2nd place in the category "Family Hotels in Germany". In the category "most popular ski hotels in Germany" the hotel took ninth place. The Holidaycheck Award 2016 is further recognition of the achievements of the Vollbracht family and their 130 employees in ensuring the holiday happiness of their guests every day. The largest public award in the tourism industry is based on the hotel guests' recommendation rate and overall rating.
A new award for the Sonnenpark
The Sonnenpark was again awarded this year's HolidayCheck Award. This makes us one of the most popular hotels 2015 worldwide. A thousand thanks for this! This is an additional incentive for us to continuously develop the quality and the "Sonnenpark experience".
